Welcome to On Our Own

of Charlottesville

           On Our Own of Charlottesville is a non-profit consumer based peer support recovery center for those who acknowledge difficulties in their lives due to mental illness, addiction disorders, homelessness or co-occurring disorders. We offer information, education, referral services, self-help opportunities and mutual support. So come on in, be our guest, have a look around. We also offer peer support training, information for family and friends of consumers or anyone looking to find out more about peer support recovery and the consumer movement.

Our Purpose:

           To provide mutual support, self-help, advocacy, education, information and referral services for individuals who acknowledge having significant problems in there lives due to mental illness and who are seeking to take  responsibility for our own growth and recovery while supporting each other. We actively advocate for positive change within the traditional mental health system.

Our Mission:

 To build a cohesive community of mental health consumers and providers who actively support each other in the journey to recovery.

 To provide access to information and services 

 To provide crisis intervention and an interactive forum that promotes individual recovery through mutual support
