About Us

Our Peer Support and Recovery Center is located in a welcoming, two-story house and offers a safe, comfortable environment where both members and non-members can feel a sense of belonging. The Center provides such basics as telephones, a mailing address, computers, companionship, listening ears, games, reading material, and television.  We provide food and kitchen facilities, showers, and laundry for members. One of the Center’s hallmarks is a daily, structured peer support group. Educational meetings also occur on regular basis and include addiction, self help, knowledge, social activities , and growth groups. Some of these groups are on-going and open to everyone. Some require Center membership and reservations.

All members and staff have been consumers of mental health, addiction, emotional, or trauma services at different points on their own path to recovery. We are all peers in what is known as the Consumer Movement. The Consumer Movement is a recovery model that  encompasses peers helping peers as an alternative to traditional mental health care. One’s level of participation is determined by his or her goals and abilities. Individuals choose the form of assistance they need or are able to give as they take part in the Centers community of support and safety.
